I was discussing this today, and I've come to think that Thomas wasn't primarily doubting: he was desperate, desperately wanting it to be true, and afraid that it might not be. And as you say so perceptively, Jesus meets him where he is. And Thomas knows, straight away. It's very powerful and beautiful.

Well - first of all - cue the eerie music - the parish at which I serve and struggle is St. Thomas the Apostle. Second, I relate to your faith and search for the genuine article, the gold nugget at the center of it. And third, I did notice the change from “Sr.” to “Br.” and worried I might have offended. Hope not.
